Each season, the culmination of the Outside the Huddle Top 50 player countdown is the naming of our annual First Five, the highest preseason honor for OTH basketball coverage.

The First Five traces its lineage back to The News-Sentinel’s years of presenting “Fabulous Five” teams of the area’s best five players in both boys and girls basketball. This player is part of our seventh season of naming First Five players.

No. 2 – Myah Epps, Homestead

Epps has dominated as Homestead’s next future Division 1 star, following in the footsteps of standouts like Karissa McLaughlin and Ayanna Patterson. Her well-rounded game and fiery leadership have attracted numerous D1 offers, a testament to her immense talent. As a dynamic lead guard, Epps averaged 17.5 points per game, making her the second-highest returning scorer in the SAC. Her versatility sets her apart—she also grabbed 5.9 rebounds and dished out 5.2 assists per game, balancing her role as both a scoring threat and a pass-first playmaker with exceptional court vision.

COACH’S QUOTE ON EPPS

“Myah is a dynamic player who can dominate a game on both ends of the court.  She is a versatile scorer at all three levels and is elite off the dribble.  Myah has become one of the best guards in the state of Indiana and will provide consistency and leadership for the Spartans.” – Homestead coach Rod Parker
