Each season, the culmination of the Outside the Huddle Top 50 player countdown is the naming of our annual First Five, the highest preseason honor for OTH basketball coverage.

The First Five traces its lineage back to The News-Sentinel’s years of presenting “Fabulous Five” teams of the area’s best five players in both boys and girls basketball. This player is part of our sixth season of naming First Five players.

No. 2 – Will Jamison, Homestead

Jamison became an insanely crisp scorer during his junior season and his ability to attack from all three levels has been incredibly impressive. Jamison averaged 17.9 points per game last season for Homestead and went from a player to know to one of the best guards in the area in recent seasons, shooting 41 percent from two point range and over 71 percent from the free throw line. Jamison’s mid range pull up sank many teams during his junior season. Jamison is also an underrated passed with good court vision and ability o distribute the ball in tight spots, averaging 2.8 assists per contest. One of Jamison’s greatest assets is his ability to control the tempo of games.

COACH’S QUOTE ON JAMISON

“Will is an explosive guard who can finish around the rim or from deep.  Will has worked extremely hard on his jump shot over the summer and I believe will make him even more dangerous for teams to keep him in front of them.” – Homestead coach Chris Johnson
