Bounce’s Picks for the (half) week of February 2

We are now strictly into the boys side with this weekly column. We’ll see if this makes me any better after I struggled last week and I’m not off to a spectacular start with my picks for the girls sectional.

Last week: 7-6

2022-23 record: 117-44 (.727)

Adams Central at Fremont, Thursday

Find me a hotter team than Adams Central right now. Can’t name one off hand? Me neither. Fremont is capable of ending the Flying Jets’ streak but I’m not picking against Adams Central and I might not do so the rest of the season.

BOUNCE PICKS ADAMS CENTRAL

Carroll at Huntington North, Thursday

We know the game plan for the Vikings. Slow the game down. Can the Chargers be slowed enough to make it game? Bounce says no. Carroll wins and wins comfortably.

BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

Central Noble at Prairie Heights, Thursday

It won’t be the best NECC matchup on Thursday evening but it should still be a great one. The Panthers need to win to stay one game back of conference leader West Noble. Prairie Heights has started to falter recently while the Cougars seem to be picking up steam.

BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE

Westview at West Noble, Thursday

This is the best game in the NECC on Thursday and could decide the conference race. The Chargers are the last unbeaten and the Warriors have just one loss. Austin Cripe versus Brady Yoder going back and forth shot for shot will be fun, but it’s West Noble big man Bradyn Barth who will be the difference.

BOUNCE PICKS WEST NOBLE

Mishawaka at Warsaw, Thursday

The Tigers need a big win and their schedule is filled with a few big games the rest of the season, so why not start with a victory over the Cavemen. Warsaw has won three of its last four games, and it feels like it’s getting right at the right time.

BOUNCE PICKS WARSAW

Lawrence Central at Bishop Dwenger, Saturday

What Saints squad are we going to see against a good Bears team? The one that upset Blackhawk or the one that lost to South Side? Bounce’s hope is that it’s the former but more than likely won’t shake out that way.BOUNCE PICKS LAWRENCE CENTRAL

Lawrence North at North Side, Saturday

If we can say one thing about the Legends, it’s that they fight until the very end. They’re bound to beat someone outside the city that they’re not supposed to beat. Bounce may be too hopeful on this one.

BOUNCE PICKS NORTH SIDE

Norwell at Columbia City, Saturday

The Knights haven’t slowed down, and I don’t expect them to anytime soon. The last two unbeatens in the NE8 and the winner clinched at least a share of the conference title. The Eagles are getting more contributions from role players but Norwell has too many options to stop for four quarters.

BOUNCE PICKS NORWELL
