Outside the Huddle has learned that Todd Mason has resigned from his position as head football coach of the Eastside Blazers.

When contacted, Mason confirmed that he had actually turned in his resignation following Week 2 effective at the end of the season.

“I will have a statement on Monday,” Mason told Outside the Huddle.

To say Coach Mason raised the expectations of the Eastside football program would be an understatement. In his five years at the helm, the Blazers went 54-18 with five NECC Small Division titles.

But it was in the playoffs where Mason truly made his mark. Since the first year of football at Eastside in 1965, the program had never captured a postseason championship of any kind until Mason took over. The Blazers earned sectional championships in 2019 and 2021 and a regional crown in 2021.

Mason’s winning percentage at Eastside of .750 is the highest in program history as the program has taken the next step from an NECC contender to being a consistent thorn in the side of Class 2A squads in the north.
