Bounce’s Picks for the Week of November 21

We’ve got boys and girls games to pick this week!

The start of the boys season means Thanksgiving is this week, which means a slice, or two, of pumpkin pie and flies for this frog come Thursday and leftovers on Friday while my burly friend Blitz trudges around Lucas Oil with the Adams Central Flying Jets and Carroll Chargers.

And good luck to those Jets and Chargers. While this isn’t football, we all want to see the area bring back a state title!

I’m coming off one of my best weeks ever, and the plan is to do it again.

LAST WEEK: 13-1

2022-23 RECORD: 21-6 (.778)

BOYS

West Noble at East Noble, Tuesday

The Chargers bring back the most from last season and most importantly, they bring back one of the top players in the area in Austin Cripe. The Knights have several new pieces in place which could take some time to gel. BOUNCE PICKS WEST NOBLE

Northrop at DeKalb, Tuesday

The Bruins and Barons have faced off in their pre-Thanksgiving matchup since Bounce can remember. DeKalb has minimal recent success against Northrop, but the Barons bring back plenty of guys that are in year two of coach Marty Beasley’s system. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB

North Side at Cathedral, Tuesday

This one will be fast-paced and with the amount of talent that will be on the floor, will be highly entertaining. The defending Class 4A state champions are led by Michigan State commit Xavier Brooker. The Legends have their own top athlete in the state in Brauntae Johnson, but the Irish should have more depth to take over in the end. BOUNCE PICKS CATHEDRAL

Concordia at Leo, Wednesday

Both teams are top 10 teams in the area with the Cadets receiving the higher ranking and for good reason. They bring back everyone from last season while the Lions graduated a large chunk of its roster. BOUNCE PICKS CONCORDIA

New Haven at Woodlan, Wednesday

The Warriors lost one of the area’s best, Joe Reidy, to graduation, but still have seven returning letterwinners. The Bulldogs return Darrion Brooks and some new faces. The experience favors the Warriors. BOUNCE PICKS WOODLAN

Merrillville at Snider, Saturday

The Panthers have won four straight over the Pirates. Snider graduated a few of its top players from last season. Merrillville has plenty of experience back, which gives them a good chance to snap the streak. BOUNCE PICKS MERRILLVILLE

Columbia City at Warsaw, Saturday

This one should be fun. It pits two of the area’s best against one another. Columbia City’s Andrew Hedrick vs. Warsaw’s Jaxon Gould. Which team has more after their top player? BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY

Northridge at Westview, Saturday

The Chandler Prible era gets underway at Westview. We know the Warriors will have a lot of high IQ players, including Brady Yoder, and the Raiders will be young and inexperienced to start the season. BOUNCE PICKS WESTVIEW.

GIRLS

Bishop Dwenger at Blackhawk Christian, Tuesday

The Braves have opened the season alternating wins and losses. They are coming off a loss to Norwell, so it means they’re in line for a win. BOUNCE PICKS BLACKHAWK

Huntington North at Homestead, Tuesday

The Vikings came back to earth with its loss to Carroll. Will they bounce back against another top area team? Homestead might be better than the Chargers, so they should win just as easily, right? BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD

South Adams at Leo, Tuesday

The Lions have been the more consistent team and they will have a big rebounding advantage in this one. BOUNCE PICKS LEO

Bishop Luers at Columbia City, Friday

The Knights have rebounded nicely from the loss to Central Noble in their opener and it’s scoring at a very high rate. But the Eagles have one of the best defenses in the area plus are shooting it well behind Addison Baxter. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY

Woodlan at Jay County, Friday

It’s still early, but the result of this one could go a long way in deciding the ACAC. Renna Schwieterman has started off strong for the Patriots and she’ll continue to do so against the Warriors. BOUNCE PICKS JAY COUNTY

Penn at Carroll, Saturday

The Chargers have been pushed a couple of times so far, but the Kingsman might give them their biggest test so far. Bounce expects Carroll to continue to handle its business, especially Taylor Fordyce and Kayla Gibbs playing at a high level. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

Fairfield at Northridge, Saturday

The Falcons showed they can play with the best, but the Raiders are a whole ‘nother level of competition. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHRIDGE
