Bounce’s Picks for the Week of November 7

Ahh, it feels good to be back. Outside of being out and about inside area gymnasiums, picking games is my favorite thing to do. Mostly just to see how many fan bases, or Barstool Twitter accounts, I can upset.

Once the boys start playing near the end of the month, my weekly picks will be broken up into half girls and half boys games. Each week, I will pick and predict the top games – as I see them – on the area schedule. Until the boys kick things off, all of these games will be on the girls side.

*Unlike Blitz, we aren’t picking spreads here…just winners

Blackford at Wayne, Tuesday

This will be a good first test for a Wayne team that has higher expectations with a veteran group. On the other side, the Bruins also have a senior-led team that only lost this game by six points last year. The Generals will have the advantage inside. BOUNCE PICKS WAYNE

Fairfield at Wawasee, Tuesday

Both teams come into this matchup at 2-0, just like they did last year. The Falcons went on to win by 24 points. Fairfield’s defense is already off to a hot start, allowing 25.5 points per game. BOUNCE PICKS FAIRFIELD

Snider at Huntington North, Tuesday

The Panthers already have two games under their belt while this is the first game of the season for the Vikings. Huntington North has a lot of new pieces this season, and Snider has the best player in the area leading the way in Jordyn Poole. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER

Homestead at Northridge, Wednesday

The Spartans have already impressed to start the 2022-23 season after a win at Carmel over the weekend. Like Homestead, Northridge has reloaded and will be one of the better teams in Class 4A  The mix of experience and underclassmen already looks like it will be a dangerous combination. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD

East Noble at Central Noble, Thursday

Both teams off to a 1-0 start, but the Cougars’ win over Bishop Luers is more impressive. Central Noble’s Madi Vice and Meghan Kiebel will be too much for the Knights to hold down for four quarters. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE

Angola at DeKalb, Friday

Both teams bring back the majority of their starters from last season. The Barons defense looks improved compared to last year. Angola’s defense will also be stout like it has in years past. Look for this one to be low scoring. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB

Woodlan at Bellmont, Friday

Woodlan took to Bellmont early last season, and the Warriors rode that early success to a 19-win season. The Squaws were able to put the loss behind them and win a sectional title. Both teams will be solid this season, but Bellmont is the deeper squad, led by Sydney Keane and Hailey Cole. BOUNCE PICKS BELLMONT

Churubusco at Whitko, Saturday

Bounce thinks Churubusco and Whitko will be feisty this season as they both try to get to double-digit wins for the first time in a few years. The Eagles’ freshman that saw a lot of action last season are already showing signs of progress. BOUNCE PICKS CHURUBUSCO

Leo at Blackhawk Christian, Saturday

The Braves and Lions have a lot of new faces in new roles this season. All eyes will be on the painted area in this one. Blackhawk might have advantage in the post with Allie Boyer. She’ll be matched up against Haylee Schott. BOUNCE PICKS BLACKHAWK

Snider at Bishop Dwenger, Saturday

The Saints will provide a different challenge for the Panthers, but the backcourt of Poole and Johnea Donahue will create a lot of problems. Bishop Dwenger will have to limit the turnovers or Snider will run away with this one early. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER

Northridge at Garrett, Saturday

The Raiders face their third area team with a trip to Paul Bateman Gymnasium on Saturday. The Raiders have too much firepower to slow down. Garrett will slow down the game and try to make it a rock fight. It won’t be enough. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHRIDGE

Norwell at Angola, Saturday

This has been one of the more high-profile, early-season matchups in the last handful of years. This season’s matchup will be no different. The Knights have two best scorers in this matchup with Kennedy Fuelling and Makenzie Fuess. Norwell has won the last four matchups. Make it five. BOUNCE PICKS NORWELL

Hamilton Heights at Jay County, Saturday

This is a good measuring-stick game for the Patriots. The Huskies have ended Jay County’s season the last two years, including an overtime loss last season. These two teams are once again in the same sectional and the winner will likely be looked at as an early favorite. BOUNCE PICKS HAMILTON HEIGHTS
