
South Side athletic director Torrey Curry passed on information to local media on Monday evening that Archer football head coach Guy “Tiny” Lee has voluntarily resigned as the program’s leader effective immediately.
According to the release, Lee has sighted health reasons for his resignation.
Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator, James Macon, and Offensive/Defensive Line Coach, Justice Caley, will serve as Co-Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
The Archers will finish the regular season Friday as they host Homestead. On Sunday, the Archers drew a first round Sectional game against Leo.
Currently, the Archers sit at 0-8 on the season.
According to Curry, Macon will be the point person for practices and acting head coach for the remainder of the season. Caley, a teacher at South Side, will serve as the contact person for all matters during the school plus completing behind the scenes tasks as required by the Athletic Department.
Lee went 1-16 in his time leading South Side. The lone win came week two of the 2021 season in a 26-14 win over Northrop.
Frustrating situation at South. Tremendous AD who I respect and works very hard but until FWCS upgrades their facilities to the point where they have a fighting chance to compete things will continue in this manner.
