Northeast Indiana Regional final games recap

Champions were crowned and seasons ended yet again on Friday night. The area will send just two teams to the semi state round next week.

Here is a complete recap of the Regional title games featuring area teams.

CLASS 6A

Westfield 37, Carroll 14

Jeff Becker became Carroll’s all time leading rusher, finishing the night with 46 yards. Becker also threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns on 23 completions.

Becker used 7 different receivers led by 96 yards to Cooper Rudolph.

Dylan Bennett had 10 tackles and Braden and Tucker Steely each had 9 tackles for the Chargers.

CLASS 5A

Zionsville 35, Bishop Dwenger 14

The teams were tied through the first quarter but the Eagles pulled away.

Bohde Dickerson managed 93 passing yards as the Saints were limited to 25 rushing yards on 21 attempts. Rocco Ciocca caught five passes for 49 yards.

Jack Tippmann’s 11 tackles and single sack led the Bishop Dwenger defense.

CLASS 3A

Brebeuf Jesuit 38, Norwell 10

Brebeuf scored 31 unanswered points in the first half to run away with the win. Norwell scored their lone touchdown as the only score for either team in the second half on a Luke Graft eight yard run.

Graft ran for 68 yards and caught a 10 yard pass. Norwell was held to just 102 yards of offense versus Brebeuf’s 307 yards and 14 first downs.

Lleyton Bailey led the Norwell defense with six tackles while Drew Ringger and Cale Mallery each had a sack for the Knights.

CLASS 2A

Eastside 21, Eastbrook 14

Laban Davis ran for 213 yards and his rushes accounted for all three Eastside touchdowns as they captured their first Regional title. Davis had scoring runs of 8, 30 and 51 yards.

The Blazers controlled the clock, holding almost 28 minutes of possession as they were grinding out drives and even went 4-of-6 throwing, though just for 30 yards. Gavin Wallace had Eastside’s one sack, but the defense was led by 7 tackles each from Dax Holman and Kyler Bibbee. Carson Jacobs added 6.5 tackles and the Blazers got 6 tackles each from Dakota Reed and Johnny Eck.

Holman added 55 rushing yards for Eastside.

The Blazers will host 10-3 Andrean next Friday for a chance to play in the Class 2A state title game.

CLASS 1A

Adams Central 41, South Adams 0

Blake Heyerly ran the ball 26 times for 235 yards and four touchdowns for the Flying Jets. Adams Central ran for 362 total yards in the win.

Ryan Black (62 rushing yards) and Alex Currie (58 yards) each added a rushing touchdown.

Adams Central showcased their defensive depth as Joshua Mosser led them with 6.5 tackles while Heyerly added 6 tackles and an interception. Keegan Bluhm, Zac Wurm and Jackson Becher each had a sack.

Aidan Wanner threw for 233 yards with 103 of them going to Jordan Hinshaw for South Adams. Chase Myers led the Starfires with 7 tackles.

Adams Central will visit North Judson next Friday for a chance to play in the Class 1A state title game.
