Week one of high school football is in the books for the 2021 season.

There were a lot of big time performances, lots of yardage and many touchdowns. But in the end, your FAN VOTE narrowed down week 1’s top player from 12 nominees.

After kicking a 47 yard field goal as time expired to propel Snider to a two-point win over North Side, Panthers junior kicker Nick Talamantes is your Craigville Appliance FAN CHOICE Player of the Week for August 20 games.

Talamantes earned 27.73 percent of the over 6,000 total fan votes for opening night.

Other nominees included Garrett’s Robert Koskie, Bluffton’s Jon San Juan, East Noble’s Kainon Carico, Eastside’s Laban Davis, Warsaw’s German Flores-Ortega, Bishop Luers’ Carson Clark, Norwell’s Luke Graft, Bishop Dwenger’s KJ Tippmann, Concordia Lutheran’s Eli Mattox, South Adams’ Aidan Wanner and Adams Central’s Blake Heyerly.

FAN CHOICE Player of the Week voting opens each Saturday and runs until the following Tuesday at noon.
