Bounce’s Picks for the week of February 8

We are now strictly into the boys side with this weekly column as the girls head to Regional Saturday.

My competently invisible traveling trophies stayed put and the Carroll girls went into Sectional play so will take theirs into next season. Homestead boys did not play an area game this week.

Here are my picks for the week.

LAST WEEK: 6-1

2020-21 RECORD: 142-54

BOYS

ANGOLA AT CONCORDIA LUTHERAN, MONDAY

Here come a hot shooting Hornets team against an always dangerous three point shooting team in the Cadets. Who can outshoot? Who can stay hot? BOUNCE PICKS ANGOLA

LEO AT DEKALB, MONDAY

If nothing else, Leo proved last weekend that they can shut down big scorers. Few have really scored as well as Cole Richmond of DeKalb has lately. Don’t expect things to go so easy for him here. The real treat is the post battles coming. BOUNCE PICKS LEO

CENTRAL NOBLE AT WHITKO, TUESDAY

Not enough love is given to Whitko as they sit on the fringe of our area but this is a solid team and Brett Sickafoose is a matchup problem for almost anyone. That said, the Cougars are on a mission right now and its not stopping anytime soon. BOUNCE PICKS CENTRAL NOBLE

BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT SNIDER, TUESDAY

This is a game where Snider really has to figure out how to rebound early or they could be in trouble. Those slow starts on the glass have hurt the Panthers a lot. Find a way to body Caleb Furst, that is the Panthers’ best hope here if they want to neutralizing just one of the Brave weapons. BOUNCE PICKS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN

NORTH SIDE AT CARROLL, TUESDAY

Can North Side throw a wrench in the top of the SAC. Yes. Will they? Hard to say. There are few more dangerous than Carroll coming off a loss. Did a loss to Leo wake the Chargers up or is a North Side team that beat Leo ready to prove who they are on a more consistent basis? BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

JAY COUNTY AT SOUTH ADAMS, TUESDAY

For either team to have a chance at sharing the ACAC they have to win this game. It is one of the last important conference games left and expect nothing but the best effort here. The team predicted to win the ACAC Tournament before dropping out versus the team that actually won it. BOUNCE PICKS South Adams

BISHOP LUERS AT SNIDER, FRIDAY

A year ago, this decided the SAC basically. This year, it is about some bragging right with younger squads. A win means a lot to either team. BOUNCE PICKS SNIDER

INDIANAPOLIS CATHEDRAL AT BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN, FRIDAY

The Braves don’t need another marquee win, but they have a real chance at one here. Hosting this game is very important because its not always easy for road teams at Blackhawk Christian, especially when they aren’t from this area. It’s not an easy place to play. BOUNCE PICKS BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN

JAY COUNTY AT HERITAGE, FRIDAY

This game will essentially wrap up the ACAC. No matter what happens anywhere else in the conference, if Heritage wins this then they will have an outright title. Jay County needs to beat South Adams earlier in the week and win this for a share of the title. Either way, there is some clarity out of this, some of which could be crystal clear. BOUNCE PICKS HERITAGE

CARMEL AT CARROLL, SATURDAY

Can Carroll be a threat in the Regional round if they get there? This game says a lot because Carmel is one of the best teams on the Chargers schedule. Expect this to be a lot of fun and maybe even put Jalen Jackson more on a state wide radar. BOUNCE PICKS CARMEL
