Bounce’s Picks for the week of November 16

Another fun week of games is complete. Is there more clarity? Probably not, but the games have been entertaining and yours truly was very happy to get back into a gym.

Here I am to pick 10 more girls games this week. Let’s hope we don’t have to alter the schedule again, although some key games (like Wednesday’s Luers at Norwell tilt) have already been postponed. And let us hope I do better as last week as NOT one of my brighter performances.

My completely imaginary traveling trophy went nowhere last week. Homestead did play in the area, beating Wayne to retain that honor.

LAST WEEK: 5-4

2020-21 RECORD: 12-5

2019-20 RECORD: 139-48 (.743)

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CARROLL AT HUNTINGTON NORTH, TUESDAY

The Vikings showed a lot, believe it or not, in a loss to Snider last week. They played their trademark defense and slowed the ball down. When that didn’t work, they played in a nice flurry and just couldn’t come back all of the way. That makes me more confident in the Vikings here. But, Carroll is better right now than almost any team in this area. They are confident, they are consistent and Huntington North is going to need to be near perfect to win this. Bounce picks Carroll

COLUMBIA CITY AT SNIDER, TUESDAY

Speaking of Snider, they have some good wins under their belt. Columbia City provides another different threat with their ability to play inside-out. The Panthers freshman trio has been electric, almost making you forget about Destiny Jackson…but DO NOT forget about Destiny Jackson, who is absolute matchup nightmare in this game. Bounce picks Snider

EAST NOBLE AT CONCORDIA, TUESDAY

This is a huge challenge for East Noble. The Knights are playing strong and their interior effort makes it difficult to chip away at them. Concordia has the size to make the interior a problem. Annaka Nelson has been on a tear for the Cadets through two games and a matchup between her and Avan Beiswanger could be a lot of fun. Bounce picks Concordia

GARRETT AT NEW HAVEN, WEDNESDAY

New Haven has to be a team to keep an eye on and that’s why this game resides here. Where the two teams are at, this is a no brainer. But tough games are what will build an athletic team like New Haven. How can Kayla Williams shine in a big moment? Fun to watch, but at the end, the expectation is that Morgan Ostrowski will be a menace on the boards. Bounce picks Garrett

BELLMONT AT JAY COUNTY, FRIDAY

Kudos to Bellmont, who came out of their quarantine smooth last week. Jay County is a surging team that will be in game two of a three game week. These are two teams that match up pretty evenly at this time of the year. Bounce picks Jay County

EASTSIDE AT ANGOLA, FRIDAY

Eastside was the first to score a conference win this season, but Angola looked pretty good themselves in their opener. Is the door open for another team to take control of the NECC? That is the big question here. Someone is going to have to settle in quickly here and the team that is able to do that has a massive advantage. Upset special? Bounce picks Eastside

CONCORDIA AT HOMESTEAD, FRIDAY

Again in the SAC and this is kind of closer than we really expected it to be. While Concordia is clicking, Homestead is still finding themselves. Will it matter? No team has ever taken a SAC regular season game off the Spartans. Will this be it? Eh, I’m not saying that but I am saying that the Cadets are ready to put up a fight. Bounce picks Homestead

BISHOP LUERS AT SNIDER, FRIDAY

Staying in the SAC for a battle of a consistent threat and the early season darlings of the conference. We have to cherish these games much more without possible Holiday Tournament rematches down the line. As strong as Snider’s guard play is, there are going to need inside work here. The Knights are tough at the rim and rebound well. This could easily be considered your game of the week. Bounce picks Snider

WOODLAN AT LEO, FRIDAY

Leo has been impressive early in this season, even with just two wins. They are fairly young but showing good growth. Their problem in this game is two fold though; A) they don’t have as good of post play as Woodlan and B) nobody on the Lions matches up possession for possession with Dakotah Krohn. Bounce picks Woodlan
