Bluffton’s Hayden Nern is the Week 5 Player of the Night

After a week with a lot of school records being broken by many teams, it was a Bluffton Tiger who edged out some stuff competition. With the best week of his career coming close to breaking a school record, it was Hayden Nern who was selected by FAN VOTE as being the Player of the Night for Week 5 of the high school football season.

Nern was 17-of-25 throwing the ball for 320 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-19 win over Jay County. It marked the third best throwing game in the history of the Bluffton Tigers team. Nern earned 30.27 percent of the more than 7,000 total votes.

To earn the fan vote for week 5, Nern had to edge out DeKalb’s Tanner Jack in a close battle for first place by just over 200 votes. Other nominees were Bishop Dwenger’s Louis Tippmann, Carroll’s Hunter Mertz, North Side’s Alex Holliday-Robinson, South Adams’ James Arnold, Homestead’s Luke Goode, East Noble’s Hayden Jones, Angola’s Ryan Brandt, Eastside’s Dylan Bredemeyer, Snider’s Jon Barnes and Northrop’s Qualen Pettus.

Fan voting for Player of the Night opens each Saturday morning. You can choose your favorite candidate through the following Tuesday at noon.
