Bishop Luers: We will be in Class 2A the next two seasons

Per its athletics Twitter account on Monday afternoon, Bishop Luers football will compete in Sectional 35 of Class 2A over the next two seasons.

This comes after over a week of speculation after the Indiana High School Athletic Association ruled that the Knights would be staying in Class 3A.

According to sources, Bishop Luers contacted the IHSAA last week to confirm that the 3A ruling was correct. The Knights pointed out that they were originally pushed to Class 3A via enrollment, not Success Factor points. With Bishop Luers’ enrollment dropping, it pushed the school back to 2A, the class in which the program has won 11 state championships.

As of late last week, Bishop Luers had yet to hear back from the IHSAA.

That appears to no longer be the case.

As it stands now, the Knights will compete in the eight-team Sectional 35 with Bluffton, Central Noble, Eastside, Fairfield, Prairie Heights, Whitko and Woodlan.
