Troy Beachy resigns as Fairfield boys basketball coach

Fairfield will join the ranks of area teams looking for a new boys basketball coach this offseason as Troy Beachy resigned on Tuesday, as reported by The Goshen News.

Beachy went 107-80 over eight seasons leading the Falcons, winning a Sectional title in 2017. He followed that season up with his two best at Fairfield going 19-5 and 15-8 over the past two seasons.

Fairfield finished 9-2 in the NECC this past season, going down to the last game of the regular season with a chance to share the conference title still in reach before a 62-60 loss to Central Noble. They then went on to lose to NorthWood in the first round of Sectional play. Fairfield won three total Sectional games under Beachy including two during 2017’s title run.

Also during Beachey’s tenure, Fairfield won the NECC in 2018 and 2015 sharing the title with Westview and Churubusco respectively. Fairfield was the runner up of the NECC Torunament on four occasions in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018 before losing in an overtime thriller to Angola this past season in the tournament’s opening round.

According to The Goshen News’ report, Beachy will remain at the school as a math teacher after resigning for family reasons.

Mark Hofer, director of athletics at Fairfield, is accepting contact from those interested in the position and can contact him at for more information as the search for a replacement will begin promptly.
