For the seventh season in a row, Bounce and Outside the Huddle are counting down who they feel are the top 50 individual players in northeast Indiana heading into the 2025-2026 season.

Today, we head into the Annual First Five and the top preseason honor given out for basketball by Outside the Huddle.

No. 3 – AVERY MACFARLANE, LAKEWOOD PARK

MacFarlane has made a significant impact on both ends of the floor for the Panthers. In the 2024-25 season, MacFarlane averaged an impressive 18.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1 steal, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 48% from the field, and hauling in a school-record 282 total rebounds. He is the leading returning scorer in Northeast Indiana and the only player in the area this season who is coming off a double double average. Last season, he posted 18 double doubles, including eight straight early in the season featuring a season best 18 rebounds against Eastside. He never had a single digit scoring game and posted season best 5 blocked shots against Blackhawk Christian and Triton. MacFarlane’s combination of size, rebounding acumen and scoring versatility have made him one of the premiere Class of 2026 prospects.

Coach’s Quote on Avery:

“Avery is a hard worker and has really been a great leader for us. Coming into the offseason he wasn’t super comfortable on the perimeter but he put in a ton of work in the summer and you can see it. He is due for a big senior year. I am pumped to coach him and see where this game can take him.” – Lakewood Park coach Jared Estep
