Another week, another chance to be great.
Each week, Bounce will pick (around) 10 games on the girls side and another (around) 10 on the boys side. Looking to highlight the big games and the best matchups in the area. Unlike Blitz, we can’t quite pick every game because we don’t get to only play on Fridays, am I right?
Again this week, the picks will only focus on the girls side until boys season starts up on Thanksgiving week.
If you know how Bounce picks, you know its different than that prognosticating bear in the fall. No projected scores or spreads here. Basketball is too unpredictable for silliness like that.
LAST WEEK: 9-1
THIS SEASON: 18-1
LAST SEASON: 136-66
CONCORDIA AT EAST NOBLE, TUESDAY
The Cadets have been hot and cold all season and that is dangerous going into a game at the Big Blue Pit against a deep Knights team that have started the season so strong. While Concordia follows their star, the Knights could have any number of girls step up on any night right now. BOUNCE PICKS EAST NOBLE
SNIDER AT COLUMBIA CITY, TUESDAY
Both of these teams come in feeling pretty good about how things are going right now. That said, walking into Columbia City is never easy. Doing so when the Eagles are unbeaten? That is harder. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY
HOMESTEAD AT NORWELL, TUESDAY
One of those games that you look forward to every season. The Knights have been nearly flawless and their defense has been on point. The Castle is never an easy place to play and usually its a decider for yours truly. But honestly, there is a reason Homestead is #1 in the state, there is a reason they just handled Pike fairly well. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
LEO AT EASTSIDE, TUESDAY
The Lions have seen some high profile performances from Leah Shappell and Mackenzie Collins in the last week, while Eastside’s win over Fremont showed that they are absolutely the real deal once again. BOUNCE PICKS EASTSIDE
BISHOP LUERS AT DEKALB, WEDNESDAY
Mark Pixley’s former program visits him for the first time. Both of these teams are coming off a long stretch since their first game (8 days for DeKalb, 10 for Luers). So what are we going to see, who has improved most? BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB
ANGOLA AT EASTSIDE, FRIDAY
Not that long ago, this would be considered a win for sure in Bounce’s eyes for the Blazers. But Angola has come out fighting this season and Kendall VanderWal has shown that she can be a superstar in her first season with the Hornets. Angola is absolutely in play here, are they deep enough? BOUNCE PICKS EASTSIDE
NORTHROP AT CARROLL, FRIDAY
Always a fun battle, these two squads play an important early season SAC game. Carroll has shown a lot of fight after losing so much to graduation and a player not playing, including a big game over the weekend for Ava Myers. The Bruins have had some good, some bad early but their defense should swarm on any Charger mistake. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP
GARRETT AT DEKALB, FRIDAY
Two new head coaches will go at it in the county rivalry where the Railroaders could be coming off three straight wins if they get the job done earlier in the week. Who is DeKalb? We don’t really know yet after a dominating win over North Side (Garrett’s other opponent this week). Since we can’t see how the Railroaders will do against North before predicting this game, we are going to lean on how well Emma Coffman has been scoring the ball with games of 29 and 32 last week. BOUNCE PICKS GARRETT
LEO AT WOODLAN, FRIDAY
These two schools boast arguably the two best bigs in the area with Woodlan’s Alyssa Anderson and Leo’s Leah Shappell. She who control the glass wins this game. Is this the best of the week? It very well could be. BOUNCE PICKS LEO
WHITKO AT NORTHROP, SATURDAY
Last season, these two teams split with each other. There is a lot of familiarity between the players and the coaches in this one. Expect a footrace to the finish. Picking the Wildcats last week was Bounce’s only blemish so far this season. BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP
