BLITZ’S PICKS: Regional championship games

Six area teams remain. All that stands between them and a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium is two more victories.

Easier said than done.

With every round comes bigger challenges, more elite teams.

Who will find a way to advance at least one more week?

Blitz gives his picks.

Last week: 6-2 (.750)

Overall: 193-47 (.804)

CARROLL AT PENN. The Chargers have been on a roll, winning seven-straight games and scoring an average of 44.5 points a game during that time. But there are questions heading into this showdown in Granger. What’s the health status of Jaidon Vanpelt? Who slows down Landon Hall for Penn? Can the Kingsmen actually execute a long snap? (Unlike last week) This is a prime matchup where a mistake or two could make all the difference. In the end, Penn stays undefeated. BLITZ SAYS PENN BY 4.

BISHOP DWENGER AT LEBANON. The Saints gave up just seven points in a trio of victories in sectional play over NE8 opponents. Lebanon is playing in a regional for the first time since 28 years, although was impressive on the road last week at Logansport. Here’s the thing in Blitz’s mind. If East Noble couldn’t do anything against that Dwenger defense, can Lebanon? BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 18.

ANGOLA AT KNOX. What a fun story the Hornets have been the last few weeks. If anyone thinks Hawk Hasselman isn’t the MVP of the area, they are crazy. The senior has been a part of 22 of Angola’s 27 touchdowns this year. But at Knox, Angola will be facing a guy in Myles McLaughlin who has scored 67 rushing touchdowns this season. That’s 40 more scores than the Hornets have as a team. That’s pretty good, right? BLITZ SAYS KNOX BY 15.

BISHOP LUERS AT TWIN LAKES. This feels like another game where if Bishop Luers goes in and handles its business, it should move on comfortably. Twin Lakes has some weapons, particularly in the passing game with Ethan Need and Ledger Shaffer, but who matches up with that intensely physical and quick defensive front of the Knights? BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 13.

EASTBROOK AT ADAMS CENTRAL. An undefeated showdown in Monroe. What could be better in mid-November? This game could be over by 8:30 p.m. as both squads are very run-heavy. However, Adams Central has Jamison Roach, while the Panthers do not. In a game like this with so many similarities between the foes, a guy like Roach makes all the difference. The Flying Jets have won 25 consecutive games. Make it 26. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 14.

SOUTH ADAMS AT NORTH MIAMI. Who will get the best of the other in Miami County? South Adams slings it all over the field. North Miami runs it all over the field, with a trio of guys having rushed for at least 875 yards and a fourth at 550 yards. This could be a first to 50 points type game, but Blitz favors the Starfires here to light up the scoreboard more. Tytus Lehman with another big night through the air. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 8.
