Today, we continue the countdown on the boys hoops side with positions No. 30-25.

No. 30 – Daniel Selking, Bellmont

A promising young talent and key contributor for the Bellmont program, Selking was an OTH All-Freshman selection last season. He averaged 12.3 points per game, complemented by 4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per outing. Selking scored a career best 31 points against Bishop Luers, where he hit nine three pointers. Known for his calm on-court demeanor and mature shot-selection as a freshman, Selking’s early success signals his potential to become a foundational player for Bellmont’s future seasons.

Coach’s Quote on Selking

“Dan is looking to build upon a good freshman season. Last year, he started at point guard for us and was our second leading scorer. This year, we are looking for Dan to become more than just a shooter. He has really worked on getting into the paint and becoming harder to guard by scoring at all three levels. Dan has spent a lot of time in the weight room this summer and fall which should help him become more comfortable scoring around the rim. We will lean on him a lot this year as one of our primary ball handlers, leading scorers, and one of our leaders.” – Bellmont coach Payton Selking

No. 29 – Jordan Woods, Snider

Woods has steadily grown into a multi-task contributor on the floor, and will now ply his trade at Snider after an offseason move. His 1.4 blocks per game last season at North Side placed him among the top shot blockers in the SAC. His size, length and defensive instincts allow him to guard multiple positions. On the offensive end, Woods has shown flashes of higher scoring ability. He had 15 games of double digit scoring last season, going between 18-22 points in four of his last five games and had four double doubles throughout the season.

Coach’s Quote on Woods

“Jordan has been a welcome addition to Snider High School and has been  a seamless fit and transition. Jordan is an exceptional athlete with great size and will make some plays this season that turn heads. He has true wing skills to go along with his size. He is a huge piece for our team having high aspirations and our whole team is excited to get him on the floor with us.” – Snider coach Josh Riikonen

No. 28 – George Poiry, Bishop Dwenger

Poiry runs the backcourt and provides energy, hustle, and a willingness to make the play when called upon. Over 23 contests last season, he averaged 10.7 points per game, pulled down around 1.3 rebounds per game, and dished out 1.5 assists per game. He also ranked as a team leader in 3-point shooting percentage (40 %) and free throw percentage (65 %). More importantly than raw numbers, Poiry is praised by coaches and teammates for his mentality — making hustle plays, defending multiple positions, and running the offense with poise. He put together 11 games in the second half of the season with a season best 27 points opposite Woodlan. With his steady production, improved shooting touch, and leadership instincts, expect a bigger leap again this season from Poiry.

Coach’s Quote on Poiry

“After a great offseason, George enters his junior year with something to prove. George has transformed his game by getting bigger, faster, stronger which will allow him to score consistently at all 3 levels. He already shoots the ball with a ton of confidence. Each year at BD, George has taken a major leap forward and this season is no different. With his drive, work ethic, and growing leadership, he’s ready to lead the Saints and make his mark as one of the area’s elite players.” – Bishop Dwenger coach Brandon O’Leary

No. 27 – Taurean Brown, Heritage

A versatile contributor, he averaged 12.8 points per game, ranking second on his team in scoring last season. Brown’s efficiency is evident in his 46 percent field-goal percentage; he also posted a 36 percent three-point shooting success rate, giving him reliable range from the perimeter. Brown collected 3.7 rebounds per game and led the squad with 3 assists and 2.3 steals per game — highlighting his all-round impact. Brown had just four games where he did not reach double digit scoring, led by a 23 point outing against conference foe Woodlan and 21 points opposite North Side. He had three or more steals in 11 different games, capturing a season best 5 against Leo; he had six assists twice in games against Southern Wells and Bellmont.

Coach’s Quote on Brown

“Taurean has been a cornerstone of our program. He lives in the gym and constantly raises the bar for everyone around him. He’s a gamer — he loves big moments and always rises when the lights are brightest. He’s played a huge role in the culture we’re building at Heritage and fully embodies what we want this program to be.” – Heritage coach Kyle Sovine

No. 26 – Ryan Stuckey, Angola

Stuckey is a massively sized guard for the area and has shown prowess working everywhere from the three point line and in. Last season, he averaged 9.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting approximately 44 % from the field for an Angola team that was right in the thick of the NECC race. Stuckey’s athletic build and work ethic have drawn praise as he is capable of attacking downhill and using his strength to create for himself and others. He is able to be diverse in key moments; for example, he posted 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in a win over Fairfield. He also had a 17 point/10 rebound game in a massive win over Leo and blocked four shots in a win over Bellmont.

Coach’s Quote on Stuckey

“Ryan is a physically strong player that gets to the hoop well.  He has the ability to make other players around him better and we are looking forward to his Senior leadership this season.” – Angola coach Bryan Weber
