Sometimes, consistency is good.
Other times, consistency is bad.
Another 19-8 week for Blitz in his picks, which is not acceptable to him or you.
With conference play on tap for Week 3, it’s time to get right.
LAST WEEK: 19-8 (.703)
OVERALL: 38-16 (.703)
CARROLL AT CONCORDIA. It is the first time these two teams have played since Carroll’s 51-0 rout back in 2022. The Cadets have been able to put up some points in their two losses this year, but the Chargers are ready to bust out after a pair of Class 6A opponents to start the year. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 41.
BISHOP DWENGER AT WAYNE. The Saints have won 13-straight games in this series dating back to 2015. Wayne’s offense has struggled to get on track, while Dwenger’s defense has been very impressive through two weeks. Make it 14 in a row for BD. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 22.
NORTH SIDE AT NORTHROP. The last time these two teams met while both being undefeated? Week 1 way back in 1994. Expect a lot of points as both QBs can sling it to a wealth of weaponry. Who makes fewer mistakes? A key turnover or penalty could mean everything at Spuller Stadium on Friday. BLITZ SAYS NORTH SIDE BY 5.
SNIDER AT BISHOP LUERS. North Side and Northrop are 2-0 while Snider and Bishop Luers are 0-2. What is going on!? The last time both of these programs began a season with two losses was 1979. But back to 2025, both these teams are desperately seeking a dub to start the SAC slate. Bishop Luers has the size advantage, but the Panthers are going to be angry after being owned in Kendallville last week. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 6.
HOMESTEAD AT SOUTH SIDE. The Archers have beaten Homestead just once in 13 tries, way back in 1990 in the playoffs. South has also scored just six points total in the last five meetings. This one will be closer than it has been in recent years, but Homestead still has the advantage. BLITZ SAYS HOMESTEAD BY 19.
COLUMBIA CITY AT BELLMONT. Columbia City has averaged 279 yards rushing through the first two weeks. Blitz thinks that number will rise after Friday. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 43.
DEKALB AT NEW HAVEN. The Bulldogs have faced two high-powered offenses so far in Northrop and North Side. DeKalb is more their speed as NE8 play opens. The Barons are coming off an impressive victory at Garrett. Another road win is on tap. BLITZ SAYS DEKALB BY 18.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT EAST NOBLE. Since being a founding member of the NE8 in 2015, the Vikings have played East Noble and Columbia City to start the league slate, and every year they have started the NE8 campaign 0-2. The Knights will flex their muscle again in this one. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 20.
LEO AT NORWELL. Questions abound for both of these teams, despite one being 2-0 and the other 0-2. At this point though, the Lions still have the edge in the trenches and at the skill positions. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 14.
ADAMS CENTRAL AT MUNCIE CENTRAL. The Bearcats were no match for AC last when they visited Monroe in a 34-6 Flying Jets victory. Things won’t be much different in Muncie on Friday. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 21.
JAY COUNTY AT SOUTHERN WELLS. After not scoring a point last Saturday at New Castle, the Patriots should have no problem finding the end zone this week. BLITZ SAYS JAY COUNTY BY 43.
SOUTH ADAMS AT BLUFFTON. Blitz would say this is a bitter rivalry, but the head coaches are good friends, which is just so…boring. The Tigers have won two straight in the series after dropping seven in a row prior. There should be a lot of offense in Bluffton, but the Tigers have the edge. BLITZ SAYS BLUFFTON BY 11.
WOODLAN AT HERITAGE. Coach Jeremy Hullinger’s latest big win came last week in OT against Delta, a team that routed the Patriots by 40 in sectional play last fall. Should be another successful night in Monroeville on Friday. BLITZ SAYS HERITAGE BY 14.
CENTRAL NOBLE AT LAVILLE. The Cougars have not won a road contest since a 31-21 victory at Fremont in 20223. BLITZ SAYS LAVILLE BY 23.
CHURUBUSCO AT GARRETT. The Railroaders are stinging from last week’s 28-point home loss that was full of self-inflicted wounds. If Garrett can limit mistakes, it should get into the win column against the Eagles. BLITZ SAYS GARRETT BY 8.
FAIRFIELD AT JIMTOWN. In two weeks, Fairfield senior Warren Kaufman has rushed for 350 yards and seven touchdowns. But Jimtown presents a tough challenge. BLITZ SAYS JIMTOWN BY 6.
FREMONT AT ANGOLA. The offense of Fremont ran roughshod over Blackhawk Christian and Blackford through the first two weeks. Angola presents a bigger challenge. Fremont has not beaten the Hornets since 2012. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 5.
LAKELAND AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. Kudos to the Lakers, who were able to notch a comeback win at home over Churubusco last Friday. Things should be easier this week. BLITZ SAYS LAKELAND BY 20.
WEST NOBLE AT EASTSIDE. The big one in the NECC this week between the two favorites in their respective divisions. This one will come down to who can slow the other’s rushing attack. The Blazers were able to move the ball against Adams Central last week and Job Richman has been phenomenal. Is it enough to end a three-game losing streak to the Chargers? BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 2.
BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN AT WES-DEL. After playing at Taylor University last week, this is the third of six games to start the season that the Braves play outside of Allen County. BLITZ SAYS WES-DEL BY 14.
WARSAW AT GOSHEN. The Redhawks ended a 14-game losing streak with a victory at South Bend Washington in Week 2. Good vibes with evaporate quickly with the Tigers visiting. BLITZ SAYS WARSAW BY 31.
