The fourth time was the charm for the Adams Central Flying Jets.
After falling three-straight times in Class 1A to Indianapolis Lutheran, the bump to Class 2A paid off for AC, as it captured a 46-6 win over Linton-Stockton in Friday’s state championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Adams Central opened the scoring in the first two minutes of the game. After Max Kaehr picked off Linton-Stockton quarterback Braylon McBride, the Flying Jets only took three plays to find the end zone on a six-yard run by Matt Heiser. After the Miners were called for encroachment on the extra point, the Flying Jets elected to go for two, which was stopped.
On the next possession, McBride was intercepted again, this time by senior Carson Schnitz. And again, Adams Central made the Miners pay when Aaron Hirschy scored from a yard out to put the Flying Jets up 13-0.
Braylon McBride threw 7 INTs over the course of 14 games this season. He opened the game throwing two in four minutes.

The Flying Jets added to their lead with a 13-play, 75-yard drive capped by a 1-yard run by quarterback Jamison Roach. Adams Central went for two, but Roach’s pass fell incomplete. The drive ate up over half of the second quarter.
Linton-Stockton got on the board after Adams Central bumbled the second-half kickoff. On fourth-and-goal from the 6-yard line, McBride rolled out and hit Paul Oliver for a touchdown. The two-point conversion failed as Adams Central held a 19-6 lead.
But the Flying Jets struck right back, driving down the field and scoring on a nine-yard run by Roach to answer the Miners.

The Flying Jets (14-1) would add two more scores before the third quarter was out – a 31-yard touchdown run by Roach and a 1-yard rush by Hirschy.
Adams Central added to the final margin of victory in the fourth when Aaron Hirschy scored from a yard out. It was that score, the seventh rushing touchdown of the game, that tied a Class 2A state finals record set by Jimtown against Clarksville in 1997.
Roach led the Flying Jets with 142 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Heiser and Hirschy rushed for a pair of touchdowns apiece. For the game, Adams Central rushed for 353 yards, just 30 yards less than the Class 2A state finals game record of 383 yards.
Meanwhile, McBride was picked off four times overall as Linton-Stockton (12-3) was held to 190 yards of total offense and just 1-of-10 on third down.
