Picks from the Pond for the week of November 18

For the final time this early season, Bounce will ONLY break down and predict the top and/or most relevant games in the area for girls basketball. Once the boys start playing the week of Thanksgiving, Bounce’s picks will then be split between the two with 5 (or more) girls games and 5 (or more) boys games being featured and prognosticated each Monday.

If you know how Bounce picks, you know its different than that prognosticating bear in the fall. No projected scores or spreads here. Basketball is too unpredictable for silliness like that.

Let’s get things started with a wild and hectic Tuesday night.

LAST WEEK: 7-3

THIS SEASON: 12-4

GIRLS

Carroll at Huntington North, Tuesday

A good measurement for both teams who have had killer initial schedules this season. Marissa Trout has a solid week for HN last week, but can she handle the defensive pressure that Carroll is able to impose? We find out in a fun start to the week. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

Columbia City at Snider, Tuesday

While not as high octane as the most recent years, there is still a lot of intrigue here in this NE8/SAC clash. Expect Addison Baxter to be able to do what she wants a lot, but there has to be some excitement about seeing her matchup with Snider freshman Janaya Cooper. Bounce thinks Snider is going to be better than many expect, but Baxter’s x factor is a big one. BOUNCE PICKS COLUMBIA CITY

East Noble at Concordia, Tuesday

The Knights don’t look like a team who is waiting to win. They want to win now and they want to make statements. Walk into the cage and get a W and that does speak. BOUNCE PICKS EAST NOBLE

Norwell at Homestead, Tuesday

Norwell just wants this gauntlet don’t they? Oddly enough, this may be a measure of the difference between SAC schools given Norwell’s nice win last week over Northrop. Power on power here and the difference could come down to if Vanessa Rosswurm can keep her torried pace for Norwell. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD

Woodlan at Angola, Wednesday

Would you rather be going into week three to play your fourth game on Wednesday night (Woodlan) or be playing your first game of the season (Angola). Most teams have a head start on the Hornets, but does that extra preparation mean separation? BOUNCE PICKS ANGOLA

Bellmont at Jay County, Friday

These are always fun clashes and with both programs putting out really stellar underclass players to start this season, this could be a fun one for years to come. Bellmont has been solid to start the season while Jay County has yet to be tested. BOUNCE PICKS JAY COUNTY

Carroll at Northrop, Friday

We know this rivalry has been one for the books for several seasons now. And if you know why, then you know why. Expect a great game. BOUNCE PICKS CARROLL

Central Noble at DeKalb, Saturday

Central Noble’s 34 free throws last week against Whitko was wild, but the ability to draw contact is important for a physical team like the Cougars. DeKalb has what could be an intense rivalry game earlier in the week, but getting to be at home on a Saturday means they put all that behind them. BOUNCE PICKS DEKALB

Northrop at Whitko, Saturday

Speaking of the Wildcats, they get a big one at home Saturday too. Coach Justin Jordan is 2-2 with SAC schools visiting in his time at Whitko but this is the first time the program will host a SAC school not named North Side or Wayne since a 2016 win over Northrop and a lot has changed since 2016. Whitko fights in this one, don’t get me wrong. But….BOUNCE PICKS NORTHROP

Homestead at Noblesville, Saturday

The first big road test of the season sends Homestead south and this isn’t what you’d call a must win but oh how it would make waves if Homestead could walk into Noblesville and knock them off. Expect a heavy display of power here as this will be the game of the week likely. BOUNCE PICKS HOMESTEAD
