The days are getting shorter folks, a sure sign of something imminent.
Blitz is getting tired.
Now, he’s always hungry. But certainly now as the leaves fall in the chilly air.
We are approaching hibernation season.
After that last weekend of football and a full belly from Thanksgiving, Blitz shuts it down.
Who will have their season shut down come Friday night? Let’s take a look.
LAST WEEK: 6-1 (.857)
OVERALL: 191-45 (.809)
SNIDER AT MISHAWAKA. The Panthers made mincemeat out of North Side last week, a game more lopsided than anyone expected. Snider has been rolling with five straight wins by an average of 32 points. But none of those five finished the season with a winning record, meaning Mishawaka is the first really good team the Panthers have played since September. That said, the Cavemen aren’t necessarily knocking off world beaters of late either. But there’s just something that doesn’t feel right about this matchup. Mishawaka had Snider on the ropes last year before Kamari Juarez changed the game in the Panthers’ favor. This one comes down to the running games – and how each team contains it. Just a gut feeling from a sizable gut…BLITZ SAYS MISHAWAKA BY 2.
LEO AT MISSISSINEWA. A lot of people assumed Kokomo would see the winner of Sectional 19, but Ole Miss pulled off its second sectional title in three years by knocking off the ‘Kats last week, the very team that beat the Lions in Week 1. QB Nolan Quaderer has been elite – throwing for close to 2,500 yards and 32 TDs while completing 70 percent of his passes. The wide receiver corps is laden with talent as well. But this is strength on strength. This is a game that Leo wins with its physicality and skill on defense. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 6.
BLUFFTON AT BISHOP LUERS. The big one at ‘The Lu.’ Last year, Bluffton was content being in the regional. This year, it is out to win it. Expect the Tigers to pull out all the stops in this one, with nothing off the table. The Knights must be ready for anything, because Coach Brent Kunkel won’t hold anything back. This game wasn’t close a year ago, but Blitz believes the gap has closed. How much? Well, that will be determined on Friday. Both teams are going to want to run the ball and limit big plays. Who wins the point of attack? This one could go either way, but while Bluffton is indeed a more prepared team than a year ago, it’s not quite there yet. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP LUERS BY 7.
ADAMS CENTRAL AT CARROLL (FLORA). Last season, a one-loss Carroll team made the trip to Monroe to take on undefeated Adams Central. It was expected to be a challenging game for the Flying Jets. It wasn’t. A 35-0 shellacking. Blitz has a hard time buying into this Cougars squad being much different. It’s a stingier defense, the best in the state by points allowed, but that AC offense is just too much. BLITZ SAYS ADAMS CENTRAL BY 19.
