To say Blitz is in mid-season form would be an understatement.
Typically, the first few weeks of the season are difficult to pick, since some teams are better or worse than their pre-season projections. By Week 5, anyone who isn’t picking 90 percent of games right is a schmuck, unless that certain someone is a cartoon bear.
While he has erred twice when picking against Adams Central, overall Blitz has impressed even himself.

OVERALL: 37-7
CARROLL AT NORTH SIDE. Layton Mitchell caught all three touchdown passes for the Chargers last week. He has quickly become Jeff Becker’s favorite target. North has a solid secondary and showed some moxie last week at Bishop Dwenger. Legends hang around but the Chargers eventually pull away. BLITZ SAYS CARROLL BY 20.
BISHOP DWENGER AT SOUTH SIDE. There is no question that the Archers are an improved team in 2019. That’s great to see, but the climb is Everest-esque to get within striking distance of a team like Dwenger. BLITZ SAYS BISHOP DWENGER BY 34.
BISHOP LUERS AT HOMESTEAD. Injuries have already cost the Knights some big-time playmakers on both sides of the ball. Homestead has plenty of bodies in which to rotate in and out. Luers hangs around but the grind of facing a 6A opponent wears them down eventually. BLITZ SAYS HOMESTEAD BY 14.
SNIDER AT CONCORDIA LUTHERAN. You can bet that the Snider coaching staff had plenty of ammunition in which to throw at their players this past week after escaping an upset bid by Carroll. The Cadets had trouble offensively against Homestead last week and it doesn’t get any easier against a program they haven’t beaten since 2006. BLITZ SAYS SNIDER BY 23.
WAYNE AT NORTHROP. Blitz expected both of these teams to be better this year, but also knows that development after losing such talented senior classes to graduation can be time-consuming. Damarius Cowen as a complement to Jeremiah Green in the backfield last week was a pleasant surprise for the Bruins. BLITZ SAYS NORTHROP BY 4.
COLUMBIA CITY AT BELLMONT. Michael Sievers is averaging 31 yards per reception. Is it possible that number goes up this week? It hasn’t been a pleasant start for Bellmont coach Eric Davis, but the schedule has not done the Braves any favors. BLITZ SAYS COLUMBIA CITY BY 36.
DEKALB AT NEW HAVEN. Blitz expected New Haven to put up a bigger fight against Mississinewa last week, but that isn’t necessarily a bad loss. The Bulldogs are better than 0-2, but DeKalb is riding all sorts of momentum right now. New Haven has not started a season 0-3 since 2002. Is this a reach? BLITZ SAYS NEW HAVEN BY 2.
HUNTINGTON NORTH AT EAST NOBLE. Bailey Parker is responsible for nine of East Noble’s 10 touchdowns – five passing and four running. He should add to that number tonight against a Vikings team that just doesn’t have the horses on defense to slow him down. BLITZ SAYS EAST NOBLE BY 29.
LEO AT NORWELL. Blitz cannot underestimate how good Norwell’s new turf looks. Dare I say, one of the best playing surfaces in northeast Indiana? Friday will look good, and the Knights will play well, but Leo’s Peyton Wall will be too much to handle. BLITZ SAYS LEO BY 21.
JAY COUNTY AT SOUTHERN WELLS. These two teams have been outscored 173-23 over the first two weeks. That’s…not good. Someone gets a win here. BLITZ SAYS JAY COUNTY BY 7.
MONROE CENTRAL AT ADAMS CENTRAL. Blitz loves riling up fan bases, especially ones he respects. The Flying Jets faithful have given this cartoon bear a hard time in picking against their beloved boys the first few weeks. Adams Central has gone 2-0 in those games. Blitz senses a trend. BLITZ SAYS MONROE CENTRAL BY 2.
SOUTH ADAMS AT BLUFFTON. Blitz has had the pleasure of being in a group chat with the coaches of these two teams all week. Typically, the two do not talk the week of a game, but Blitz has brought them together. We will see if they are still close after Friday. BLITZ SAYS SOUTH ADAMS BY 18.
WOODLAN AT HERITAGE. Blitz had an ACAC coach text him this week and said, “Watch out for Woodlan.” The Warriors had a brutal schedule to start the year and should score some points at the very least this week. They should score plenty, in fact. BLITZ SAYS WOODLAN BY 37.
CENTRAL NOBLE AT FAIRFIELD. How about Central Noble’s Will Hoover? The sophomore has 22 tackles and five tackles for loss in two games. The Cougars need some more from the offense and they will get it this week. BLITZ SAYS CENTRAL NOBLE BY 22.
CHURUBUSCO AT GARRETT. Can the Railroaders slow down Jake Fulk? That is basically what this game comes down to. Blitz thinks he knows the answer. BLITZ SAYS CHURUBUSCO BY 11.
FREMONT AT RIVER VALLEY (MICH.) River Valley is nicknamed the Mustangs. See? Blitz taught you something today. Fremont has not won a road game since 2015. BLITZ SAYS RIVER VALLEY BY 14.
LAKELAND AT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS. The Lakers did not look horrible last week in battling Churubusco before losing by 14. Lakeland will get its first win of the year here. BLITZ SAYS LAKELAND BY 18.
ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S (MICH.) AT ANGOLA. St. Mary’s nickname is the Eaglets. Seriously. Blitz cannot in good conscience pick a team nicknamed the Eaglets. Bears eat Eaglets if they can get climb high enough in trees. Go Hornets. BLITZ SAYS ANGOLA BY 3.
WEST NOBLE AT EASTSIDE. When is this Chargers offense going to break out? Kyle Mawhorter, Brandon Pruitt and Josh Gross are due for a breakout game where they put up some serious numbers. Does it happen this week? It’s possible. BLITZ SAYS WEST NOBLE BY 4.
